Gynaecologist

He completed his medical degree in 1977 from Melbourne University and entered the training program at the Royal Women’s Hospital in 1982 following which he went to the United Kingdom for further training. He became a fellow of the Royal Australian College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (FRACOG) in 1988 and a fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (FRCOG) in 2000. Dr Sam Sfameni has been employed in both the public and private sector in obstetrics and gynaecology for over 20 years. His private practice is based in Fitzroy and Essendon encompassing the north and western suburbs. He is happy to manage all general gynaecological problems and has a special interest in urogynaecology, the management of urinary incontinence and uterovaginal prolapse.

He is experienced in the management of vulvovaginal problems and can perform colposcopy for the management of abnormal cervical smears. Major surgical procedures are undertaken at St Vincent’s Private Hospital in Fitzroy or at the John Fawkner Hospital in Coburg. Minor procedures can be performed at the Wyndham Private Day Procedure Centre.

Dr Sfameni is happy to see uninsured patients and can arrange for appropriate investigation and referral to the public sector when necessary.

He is happy the bulk bill health care/pension card holders or at doctors request.
