Dr Nandor Jaross
MD PhD FRANZCO
Dr Nandor Jaross is passionate about ophthalmology, its advances in technology, and having the ability to positively impact peoples’ lives by improving their vision.
Many patients appreciate Dr Jaross’ warm caring nature, humorous personality, his keen eye for detail, and his broad knowledge range which allows him to work closely with his patients to achieve optimal outcomes, not only in their eye health, but also their overall health.
Nandor started his journey in ophthalmology by graduating with “cum laude” from the Medical School of Debrecen, Hungary in 1983 and obtained specialist qualification with excellent results in 1987. He continued to win prizes from the Hungarian College of Ophthalmology in 1987 and 1988.
In 1988 he migrated to Australia and worked for 8 years at the Royal Darwin Hospital and set up the Mobile Eye Unit in the Northern Territory. He also received the Commanding Officer’s Medal working with the Australian Defence Force, providing surgery in remote areas.
During this time he was the recipient of the Ken Moo memorial scholarship and the Rotary vocational excellence award.
He later, worked at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and obtained PhD in 2003 for his thesis entitled “Diabetic Retinopathy in the Katherine Region of the Northern Territory”.
Between 2003 -2006 he was registrar at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and obtained fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists in 2006.
Since then he has been practicing primarily in medical retina in Coburg and Footscray at Vision Eye Institute.
He is now only practicing in the Western suburbs of Melbourne in Footscray and Bacchus Marsh.
